The Bachelorette Party

And a fun time was had by all….

So, this weekend I got to host my little sisters bachelorette party, or as we call it here in the UK, her Hen Party. As a self confessed planning junkie, I adored the opportunity to plan and host this event. I literally love planning any and all parties, this was no exception.

I decided on the city of Bath because my sister, Daisy was not keen to go away abroad, she already has 2 young children. Bath however was near enough for her not to fell panicked but far enough to feel that we had actually “gone away” for the weekend. Bath is a  historic Roman town defined by Georgian architecture, steeped in history and quite literally beautiful. Georgian architecture built from pale bath stone gives this city a regal appearance. For the shopaholics  it is abundant with boutiques and high-street stores to sate the biggest shopping appetite. There are endless activities to choose from; punting, Spa sessions, history tours, museums and of course numerous famous sites to visit if your schedule allows. The Roman Baths, on which the city was built from, the beautiful Royal Crescent and the Circus are exquisite examples of Georgian Architecture, the Assembly Rooms and the Cathedral are all to be appreciated.

I opted to hire a beautiful 5 storey Georgian house in the centre of the city. Houses to hire for groups are plentiful and based on the research I did, are all up to an exacting standard. I opted for The Bath Town house, this suited our groups size and was within walking distance of all our activities. Details here.

We spent our first evening at home and were thoroughly entertained by the “Hunks in Trunks”. They did exactly what it said on the tin! We enjoyed cocktails and party games, nothing was too much trouble for our hunks!Details here

Our main activity was a visit to the Thermae Spa. We hired the Cross Bath, a private thermal poole for groups of 6-12. We enjoyed cupcakes and champagne ( at an additional cost) and a relaxing but playful 1.5 hours in the thermal waters.

Hair appointments were scheduled at the lovely No.3 salon in Bartletts Quarter. For £20 pp we had our hair put up or blown dry for our evening out.

We the enjoyed dinner at the Hall and Woodhouse restaurant aHen Party drinking wine in tiara'snd headed to Zero Zero Nightclub where we enjoyed a VIP table with waitress service. Our theme was Black dresses and Tiara’s, our Bride 2 be, of course worse white.

On our final morning we went for breakfast at Pierre but there are so many choices for Breakfast on George street it was quite hard to choose. We had eaten the previous morning at the House and so it was a treat not to have to cook. I would recommend Loft and Pierre and also if you’re on a budget, the Slug and Lettuce pub do a good “fry up” for those of you needing to re-stock after a heavy night!

A fun weekend was had by all. It was a joy to plan and an absolute thrill to be part of. I would recommend Bath to any Bachelorette/Hen Parties considering where to go. This city has everything you will want and need to celebrate your last weekend of freedom with style and class.Hen party group photo
